The Vibration Reduction (VR) system counters the natural handshake that humans have in their hands. It works with two gyroscopes that detect the movement and to move a lens group to counter the movement. There currently are two versions: The first generation of VR delivered an advantage of three stops, the newer VR-system delivers four stops according to Nikon.
