Reviews for the Tamron 28-75 F/2.8 XR Di LD ASP IF

| Con: | not very wide, AF bit noisy and not as fast as Nikon/Canon, Build. |
| Review: | I love this lens, I use it for almost anything except wide angle shots. I bought it as the standard lens to go with my camera. The nikon 18-200 VR was the other candidate but the price/optical quality of the Tamron are great! And I like large aperture lenses because of the advantages they have over VR/IS lenses (faster shutterspeed to freeze motion, DOF).

| Pro: | sharp at f2.8, excellent centre sharpness, slightly better even than canon 24-70L, small, light, accurate AF. |
| Con: | Build a little on the hasty side. |
| Review: | Love this lens. On a 1.6crop camera like my 350D, the FL is about 44-120, which is a bit strange, but I find it very useful. The AF is not great if compared to USM fucussing, but it is good for the old school noisy type of AF. It hunts in low light, but I have found than when it does lock, it is accurate. The zoom ring has very slight play in it, which is my only real complaint with build, but doesn't effect performance at all. According to in depth reviews I have seen, it is even sharper in the centre than the canon 24-70L, and maintains excellent centre sharpness through zoom and aperture range. However, the corners are far inferior to canon. But I mainly use it for portrait work, and have had no issues, in use the lens produces excellent results. It also has a very useful max magnification of 1:3 @ 75mm which is great for flowers and the like, and takes my marumi extension tubes for close to 1:1 magnification with results which are close to my sigma 150 macro in quality. This lens also produces remarkable nice bokeh for a zoom, quite soft and dreamy. It reviews much better than any of the comparable sigma offerings, and for the low price represents incredible value for money. |

| Pro: | Cheap, 2.8, sharp, nice bokeh |
| Con: | Build, focusring, af, 28mm |
| Review: | I don't actually own this lens, but because I was curious about it because of it's price I borrowed it. I was impressed with the results, however, the 28mm is just a bit long for me and the AF isn't quite up to it. The sharpness and bokeh are nice, but I can't get over the build and the AF. |
