| Review: | I bought this lens together with my D50 and 18-55. At that time, the 55-200 VR wasn't available yet. Allthough I didn't really like it at first (probably because of the slow AF), it did show its good side after a while. It's quite sharp (sharper than the 18-55) and has almost no weight. You can shoot all day while barely even feeling anything. The downsides are the very annoying slowly and hunting AF, vignetting wideopen, the extreme lack of contrast (depends on situation though, but having to set 'Blacks' to 40 in ACR to get a decent picture is NOT good) and last but not least, the tiny focusring.. But you shouldn't really complain for the price. After all, you get what you pay for. I'd recommend buying the new Nikkor 55-200 VR over this one. It doesn't cost that much more, it's a new design and you get VR! |
