Canon announces 40D plus kit lenses
Today Canon has announced the successor of the Canon 30D after about 18 months. Yesterday Amazon leaked the specifications and after a while Canon placed their official announcement.
The new body is in no regard a minor update as the 30D was. The highlights for the new camera are:
- New 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor (based upon the 400D sensor)
- DIGIC III image processor
- New auto focus system with 9 cross sensors
- 6.5 FPS with a 17-image buffer
- 3.0" LCD-screen
- Dust removal system
- Live view
- ISO in the viewfinder
- Custom modes
- Larger viewfinder
- Less noisy shutter

With the 40D Canon has also announced two new kit lenses for the 40D: an EF-S 18-55 F/3.5-5.6 IS USM and an 55-250 F/4-5.6 IS USM.
